Since leaving the teaching profession Mary Flynn has focused on developing her own creative practice.
“I find myself continually drawn to the beach, witnessing the ebb and flow of the tides. The rhythm of change, and the excitement of shoreline finds. I am compelled to explore and record the objects I find, creating a new order from found objects, or finding a personal significance in them.
The materials I use vary; they include found objects, fabric, stitch, and print.
The exploration and experimentation process are key issues in my work".
At present Mary Flynn is working with two groups, QuayCrafts, and Rostrum 4 which is a group of four artists working in collaboration.
