I studied fine art at Gloucestershire College of art and came to work and live on the Isle of Wight in the late seventies, I joined the Quay Crafts a year after it started.
I print mainly using intaglio from copper, steel and shellac using in-plate colour. The additions are usually small as one has to repeat the process of painting the colour onto the plate accurately to produce prints that can be considered to be repeats. I achieve line by engraving, etching and dry point, hand engraving being more controllable than machine. I also do some wood engraving using the natural grain of the wood within the context of the final print.
My work has elements of still life, animals, figures, landscapes, seascapes and cityscapes, any subject matter which allows me to express the meaning and feeling contained within the work. I am particularly drawn to seascapes, figures and people as this has fitted the themes of my recent work.
