QuayCrafts was formed in the Spring of 1986 after discussion by a group of craftsmen working independently on the Isle of Wight and basing themselves at the Quay Arts Centre.
The aim of the group was, and remains, to be a stimulating and supportive group, encouraging high quality art, design and craftsmanship through regular discussion and exchange of ideas and experience. As the culmination of this sharing of ideas and critical support, the group exhibits together to show new work that is original and beautifully made.
The group is keen to expand the audience base and to inspire viewers through exhibitions, demonstrations, lectures, workshops and other activities, in cooperation with other arts and craft groups and bodies where appropriate.
QuayCrafts currently have 16 members ranging widely in age and involved in a variety of skills, processes and techniques, some coming from backgrounds outside the conventional arts and crafts community. One of the strengths of QuayCrafts is its' diversity.
There is a common bond of dedication to produce high quality creative work, and a desire to develop our professional practice.
